Born and raised in the USA, just outside San Francisco, Sam grew up skateboarding, playing baseball and making home movies with friends. With a degree in Sociology, he has a natural ability to connect with people and create a relaxed, comfortable environment on set.

Now based in Australia, Sam works as a Photographer and Director creating visually engaging work that feels authentic and human. Known for his calm presence and collaborative approach, he has built a strong reputation across both commercial and personal projects.

His work has been recognised with Gold and Silver at the ACS Awards and multiple honours at the BADC. He has been a finalist in major Australian art prizes including the Moran Photographic Prize, Olive Cotton Award, Brisbane Portrait Prize and Sunshine Coast Art Prize. He was Overall Winner of the Moreton Bay Art Award, People’s Choice winner at the Olive Cotton Award and a recipient of the UniSQ Biennial Art Award. Most recently, his work was selected for American Photography AP40 and AP41 and was the winner of the 2026 Fairholme Art Prize.
